By focusing on the accessibility and visibility of the surveillance equipment for home energy, the architects wanted to make a sport to reduce consumption. The concept behind Villa KRAM is based on exploiting the advantages of the two families living in one building. This means a saving of space in the pedestrian areas and other common functions. The skylight has become a popular area of town and a different room in the house. A 13 meter high skylight shaft is a central element, which in addition to providing light for the stairs and basement, also serves as a technical control room where the two families can keep an eye on energy consumption.

It represents a new category between a single-family house and an apartment block with the best of both worlds including a smaller surface to insulate for both homes. This project may be used for both prefabricated low-budget construction and in larger buildings. Villa Kram, aka the Hug House, by architect couple Natallia and Pelle Sorensen. villakram.dk
